When should I use a custom certificate instead of Let's Encrypt?

I can see section.io will install and manage a Let’s Encrypt issued certificate for my domain automatically but that I also have the choice to provide my own custom certificate.

For what scenarios would it be beneficial to provide my own custom certificate?

We recommend using our Lets Encrypt certificates because it takes all the hassle of certificate renewals off your plate.

You might want to use a custom certificate if:

  1. You need an Extended Validation certificate
  2. You want to use a wildcard certificate
